This morning was a monumental day in UTSA athletics as city officials and University brass broke ground on the new Park West Athletics Complex. Eventually, this complex will host the majority of Roadrunner athletic facilities, including state-of-the-art track and field and soccer stadiums. A cool $22.1 in municipal and state bond monies were used to fund Phase One of construction, which will be used to build a 1,000-seat soccer stadium, 1,000-seat track and field stadium, and various other pieces of infrastructure. Hopefully money will rain from the sky and we'll get football practice fields built in the near future as well. The goal for Phase One construction is 2013.
